Term 3 Learning Update
This term we will be finding out about the Ancient Maya and their fascinating lives in southern America. We will be asking the question, ‘what was life like for Mayan people 1000 years ago?’. We will find out about Mayan daily life, how they worshiped and how we know about this ancient civilisation.
In English we will be we will be exploring different poetry styles and developing our speaking and listening skills by performing our own poetry. We will also have the opportunity to visit an ancient sports academy and write a set of instructions explaining how to play a Mayan sport.
In Maths this term, we will be continuing to build upon a range of mathematical skills, including, place value; addition and subtraction, multiplication and division. We will also be spending a week considering the properties of 2D shapes and another covering fractions. We will continue to apply our skills to solving problems and developing our mathematical language through reasoning.
In science we will be considering States of Matter and investigating changes within materials and how these changes occur.
In geography we will complete a case study of a country in South America that produces the coco bean. This will include an investigation into its environmental regions, key physical and human characteristics and major cities.
In P.E this term we will be concentrating on Hockey and spending time in developing our understanding of balancing and movement in gymnastics.
Chocolate Fever!
What a great start to the term! We have had a wonderful first day back exploring our new topic and all things chocolate! We completed a chocolate tasting activity, (which wasn't all about the eating), held a Great British biscuit bake off, and designed our very own golden tickets. Oh the fun we had!
