Term 3 and 4

The Land of the Rising Sun

This term we are learning all about Japan. This links to our Geography objectives of comparing human and physical geography in the United Kingdom and a non-European country. We will learn about the landscape of Japan and compare it to the UK as well as finding out about wider Japanese culture. We will be learning how to speak Japanese, how to write our names, make origami, design watercolour silhouette pictures and kimono patterns. At the end of the topic we will share what we have learnt with our Japanese visitors.

Making Sushi

We made our own sushi rolls! We read some instructions and watched a video about how to make sushi. Then we chose which ingredients we would like to use to make our sushi healthy.

Then we used traditional ingredients such as nori, sticky rice and vegetables to make our sushi rolls. Miss Perrin helped us with the sharp knives but we did all the sticky and messy bits ourselves!
