Fairy Tale Lane

The topic this term is Fairy Tale Lane.

In English we are basing our writing on the book 'The Jolly Postman' and other well know traditional stories.

Our topic learning in the afternoons will be based around 'Fairy Tale Lane'. We will be designing symbols for a map of Fairy Tale Lane, using apps to create characters from Fairy Tale Lane, use music to create a journey through Fairy Tale Land as well as much more. We will also be painting self-portraits and looking at the work of famous painters.

Dyslexia Awareness Week

As a school we supported Dyslexia Awareness Week this term. A number of activities have been going on throughout the week to increase understanding about dyslexia and celebrate the amazing achievements of well-known people with dyslexia. Year 1 enjoyed an art session painting in the style of Jackson Pollock. On Tuesday we also had a 'dress up day' where children could dress up as a character from a book and film written by people with dyslexia.
