This term we have been reading a story called Jemmy Button. It has inspired a lot of very creative responses!
The children wrote some poems about the visitors in the story...

Class 3 became the voice of Jemmy Button's conscience as he decided whether to go away with the visitors or stay on the island with his family...

We wrote poems as a response to Jemmy Button leaving his island. We used 'Windrush Child' by John Agard as our inspiration & followed the structure of his poem.

Here is Esther's poem. Great use of personification!

Behind you

Jemmy Button

Weeping trees crying farewell

Above you

Jemmy Button

Shiny stars are fading

Around you

Jemmy Button

The sea is shining bright

Beside you

Jemmy Button

The little blue fish are splashing goodbye.
