Term 1 and 2

Excellent Explorers

This term we are learning about famous explorers and the journeys they went on. We will be learning about people such as Christopher Columbus, Tim Peake, Neil Armstrong, Robert Falcon Scott and Captain Cook.

We will be learning about the continents of the world and plotting these explorers' expeditions as we learn about them.

We will also be finding out about humans' voyages into Space.

Science Investigation

In Science we have been learning about materials and their properties. We went outside into the school environment and identified all the materials we could see. We then decided what their properties were, and discussed which materials were good for which objects and why.

We then designed a tent for an explorer to take with them on an expedition. We used what we had learnt about materials to choose appropriately. We needed the tents to be strong and waterproof - the pictures above show us testing different materials to see how waterproof they are!
