Useful Information For Parents:

Homework

We ask that you hear your child read aloud for 15 minutes every day as this will greatly benefit their progress in reading. It will also underpin all their other learning, as reading is a key skill across the curriculum. Please see the 'Reading Guide For Year 3 Parents' below for more information on helping your child to get the most out of reading with you.

Spellings are given out on a Tuesday, which need to be practiced & learnt ready for a spelling test on the following Tuesday.

For maths, the 'Today's Number Is...' sheet is a really useful resource for building confidence, mental & written maths skills. Simply choose a number to work with & see how many things from the sheet your child can do.

Also, regular weekly times tables practice is invaluable. This can be done in a variety of ways, including using the ever popular Times Table Rockstars.

P.E.

We have 2 weekly sessions. In Term 1 this will be on Thursday & Friday afternoons.

Your child will need to come to school dressed in their P.E. kit on these days. They will also need to have a spare set of clothes & shoes (tracksuit bottoms & a T-shirt are fine) if needed in case they get wet or muddy. These should stay in school.

Earrings & watches need to be removed for P.E lessons. If they cannot remove their earrings, these will need to be taped over – please do this at home, or provide your child with tape & show them how to cover them.
