Remote Learning
Across the Federation, Sundridge & Brasted Primary and Kemsing Primary schools, we are committed to ensuring that all pupils continue to make progress in their learning, even when they are not able to attend in person. In line with the Department for Education’s guidance on remote education, we have robust plans in place to support high-quality learning for pupils working from home when this is required. (GOV.UK)
When Remote Learning Will Be Used:
Remote learning is considered only when face-to-face teaching is not possible, such as:
-
whole school closures.
-
local restrictions.
-
individual pupils isolating due to health reasons.
Remote education is intended to help pupils stay on track with their education and remain connected to their teachers and peers. (GOV.UK)
Platforms We Use:
To support pupils and families effectively, each school uses a tailored online learning platform:
-
Kemsing Primary School – Google Classroom
Pupils will access lessons, assignments, learning resources and teacher feedback through Google Classroom. Teachers will set work and interact with pupils regularly via this platform. -
Sundridge & Brasted Primary School – Microsoft Teams
Pupils will access remote lessons, uploads of learning tasks, video sessions and teacher communication via Microsoft Teams.
These platforms are used to provide structured, sequenced learning that mirrors classroom teaching, as well as opportunities for pupil–teacher interaction and feedback. (GOV.UK)
What Remote Learning Will Look Like:
During periods of remote education:
-
Pupils will be provided with meaningful, ambitious work across a broad range of subjects.
-
Work will be planned to reflect our curriculum and support pupils’ ongoing progress.
-
Teachers will build in opportunities for interaction, feedback and assessment where appropriate.
-
Learning expectations will be age-appropriate and take account of pupils’ different stages of development.
-
Where needed, alternative formats (such as printed materials) will be offered for families who have limited digital access. (GOV.UK)
Supporting All Pupils:
We recognise that some pupils may need additional support to access remote learning, particularly:
-
younger children,
-
those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Our staff will work with families to ensure appropriate support is in place so that every pupil can engage with their learning effectively. (GOV.UK)
Safeguarding & Online Safety:
Keeping pupils safe online remains a priority. Our safeguarding and child protection policies apply during remote learning, and we encourage families to follow guidance on staying safe online. (GOV.UK)
Communication:
We will keep families informed about remote learning expectations and any tools or resources that may support home learning. If you have questions about accessing Google Classroom or Microsoft Teams, please contact your child’s class teacher or school office.
